Iranian artworks up for auction in Tehran

Iranian artworks will be auctioned off at a Tehran event, with the highest estimated piece estimated to fetch close to a million dollars.

Iranian artworks have been made available on the Tehran auction block, with the highest estimated piece estimated to fetch close to a million dollars.

A painting from the ‘Trees’ series by renowned Iranian painter and poet Sohrab Sepehri (1928-1980) is expected to get an estimated USD 660,000-930,000 at the 7th edition of the Tehran Auction, which will be held on July 7 at Parsian Azadi Hotel.

72 classic and modern artworks by acclaimed Iranian artists are expected to get from USD 8,000 to USD 930,000 at the auction.

The Tehran Auction aims to address the increasing interest in modern and contemporary Iranian art as well as to facilitate the acquisition of the best quality works in reliable ways.

Organizers of the event offer their experience and expertise to bring selective artworks of various genres to art lovers.

The second most valuable work expected to sell at the auction is the sculpture ‘Poet and Cage’ by the sculptor, painter Parviz Tanavoli. It is estimated to bring USD 530,000-800,000.

The third highest artwork is another oil on canvas work from the ‘Tree Trunks’ series, estimated to bring USD 266,000-400,000.

The two previous annual editions of the auction generated USD 7.4 and USD 6.4 million, respectively.

The Tehran Auction was launched in 2012 as a private, independent initiative to introduce the best of Iranian art ranging from established and emerging Iranian artists to Iranian art collectors and global buyers.
